How to get to the Leidseplein
The municipality of Amsterdam is busy with thorough work on and around Leidseplein. Leidseplein can still be easily reached during work. Below you can read for each means of transport how to get to Leidseplein where you should pay attention.
Public transport
Leidseplein is easily accessible by public transport, especially by bus and tram. Trams 1, 2, 11, 12 run from Central Station. From Amstelveen to Westergasfabriek via Leidseplein line 5. From Sloterpark to Java island via Leidseplein line 7. From Sloterdijk to Diemen via Leidseplein line 19 Leidseplein can also be easily reached by bus. Take bus lines 282, 283.284, 288, N47, N57 and N97.
Accessibility by car
The entertainment area is car free and in the area around the Leidseplein there is little or no parking on the streets. You can park in one of the surrounding parking garages: Byzantium, Museumplein or Marnixstraat.
Another possibility is to park at a P + R and then travel by public transport. An overview of all P + R locations in and around Amsterdam can be found here.
Cab
Taxis drive to the edge of the entertainment area and may no longer enter the Leidseplein to drop off passengers. There is a taxi stand on the Leidsebrug
By bike
The Leidseplein is also easily accessible by bike. The Leidsebrug has been renovated and is now reopend for cyclists.
One of the goals of this renovation is to make the area more accessible by bicycle. New underground bicycle parking facilities and special bicycle parking facilities will be constructed.
On foot
The situation for pedestrians is currently similar to cyclists.
